Welcome to the World of HandDrawn!

Many Thanks to All

Thanks to the terrific support of many friends, this blog is now operational. I'd really like it if you told your video-game goer friends about this blog so they, too, can hear about the game! Firstly, I'd like to introduce my game, HandDrawn, the topic of this web log.

The Story

As with all stories, it takes a really long time to develop it more time to not hate it. So I'm afraid that HandDrawn's plot is rather in-dev, meaning... I haven't finished it yet. Anyhow, the main concept is as follows:

Picture this: You're walking along and then all of the sudden, the dirt turns cyan. The trees turn pink (provided that they were green to begin with). King Krazy (spelled with a K) has invaded the lush and not-in-economic-deficit-y land of Canvas Creatures and is destroying the ballance of the Color Wheel of Powerness, corrupting the land with negatized colors. Fortunately, unlike in other stories, the Canvas Creatures have planned ahead and made a good stab at their security system. Nonetheless, King Krazy did his homework too and through means I honestly haven't come up with yet, he designates Reverse Zones throughout the land of the Great Paper. If given enough time, he plans on turning the world to its negative colors forever, causing a rupture in the atmosphere which will probably turn the world evil. (Funny how it always works like that, huh?) Never fear: Agent 3 did not sign on to be murdered by a giant rupture in a void. In order to stop this terrible calamity, you must help Agent 3 stop the evil king and bring him to justice for his crimes against the natural laws of the universe... and the spelling of "crazy"! And by "help", I mean, "control his every move". And yes, "negatized" is a word. Look it up in your copy of "Words That Don't Exist".

Gameplay

There are so many things I'd like to talk about, but I'll feed them to you gradually. You probably are already falling asleep so I'd hate to induce it further. Rest assured that I'll keep you posted with updates on my progress once a week, on Friday. If you don't get a post, I've been tragically devoured by a mentally ill tiger—or I just didn't have time that day. So it's an and/or.

Upcoming Events

I'm planning a development build of HandDrawn. Let's call it. HandDrawn RCDB1! (Release Candidate Development Build 1) This will most likely consist of the following.

  • The tutorial world
  • The first 5 levels (number TBD, but probably 5)
  • The beta Save/Load function (although I've got a lot of bugs to swat with that one).
  • Enemies including Monstrosities, Verts, an introduction of King Krazy
  • An in-dev pinecone weapons system
  • At least one cutscene
I hope you're as excited as I am... although I'm pretty sure that's impossible at this point. If you're able to, I'd appreciate any comments concerning this game!

    1. I'm afraid I don't have much information on when it's rolling out, but I plan to release it this month or the next. It's more likely to be October, however. :)

  3. Wow! This looks good. You might want to change the name of RCDB1 though, it's quite a mouthful!

    1. Thanks for the tip! :) Coincidentally, I was thinking of changing the name to "RC1" (Release Candidate 1). I think that the next dev-version will probably be called "RC2" instead of "RCDB1" for those exact reasons!
