HandDrawn Then... HandDrawn Now!

Ever wondered what Minecraft looked like two months before their first publicly attainable release that dates back the most? I don't, but if HandDrawn tells us anything, games evolve—fast! Check out this video of the game just a little while ago. It's 6 minutes long: skip to 3:10 if you're uninterested in the machanics of the game and just want to see a little demonstration!

When HandDrawn: Release Candidate Development Build 1 is out, you'll definitely notice the differences. To name a few:

  • Different textures
  • Agent 3 and the monster's sprites
  • The HUD
  • Swimming
  • Gravity
  • Sound effects
Things that you might not as easily pick out are:

  • Platform collision
  • Better AIs
  • Better camera
  • Inability to use some features (purchasability will be added in Major Update 1 or Major Update 2)
  • Smoother processing and animation rendering
  • Better GUIs
Perhaps the biggest difference you'll notice is that video's lack of color.

Videos, images, music, information on RCDB 1... all of that is coming soon! As previously mentioned, more detailed "main" posts will be made every Friday. Provided I'm not killed by that tiger.

  1. I have a little pointer. In those spots where you running up those long...runway thingies...your going to want something either on the ground, or in the background, so it actually looks like your moving, cause when you have something that long with no changes in background, it just looks like the guy is running in place.

  2. Thanks! :) Don't worry, the new levels will be a whole lot more detailed with parallax layers and such.
